    Marius Ehrlich, Gernot’s son, and Jan Hofmann carry on as CEO’s of R&D GmbH and start expanding the marketing strategy of R&D and Slate-Lite..

    EcoStone, an even thinner and more flexible version of Slate-Lite material, was developed in Germany and made available for the world market.

    R&D GmbH already has distributors in more than 10 different countries all over the world.

  6. 2002

    R&D GmbH is founded in Germany by Gernot Ehrlich. The company philosophy is to improve and sell Slate-Lite all over the world in this time the focus was to add different stones to the range of possible Slate-Lite materials.

  7. 90s

    In 1990 Gernot decides to move to the USA for marketing of the Tabletops and begins production of Slate fountains. Soon the Slate fountain business became a majority portion of the annual turnover. For bigger fountain models the first Generation of Slate-Lite Arkobaleno Colore was used to achieve a light weight possibility.

  8. 70s - 80s

    In the 1970s and 1980s Gernot Ehrlich produced Slate tabletops with a negative process through laying out the tiles and gluing them to a wooden board from the back. In this time Gernot Ehrlich became a professional in Slate stones and in the processing of the same, producing approx. 80% of the world markets demand for these tabletops. In the process of making these tables the product Slate-Lite was created through a faulty top of which the tiles were pulled off.
